NELGA – The Network of Excellence on Land Governance in Africa
Objectives of NELGA
Training
Enhancing training opportunities and curricula on land governance
We encourage growth in the number and quality of land-related training opportunities. We strengthen and mainstream land governance issues in land-related education and higher learning programmes. We support education institutions to align their curricula to the needs of the labour market.
Research
Promoting demand-driven research on land governance
NELGA engages in poverty-oriented, conflict-sensitive and gender-sensitive research. We generate high quality research products. We translate analytical findings into operational engagement to create policy driving evidence on land governance.
Networking
Connecting scholars and researchers
NELGA fosters South-South dialogue and knowledge sharing on land issues. It builds ties and enhances cooperation between African universities and research institutions in support of land policy development, implementation and monitoring by providing capacity building and advice for member institutions and countries.
Monitoring
Strengthening monitoring and evaluation of land governance
We enhance tracking, monitoring and evaluation of land policy processes in Africa. We provide relevant data on land governance topics and create a repository for data. We strengthen analytical capabilities of African research institutions for producing and analyzing data.
Through innovative research and training NELGA creates strong capacities for good land governance and contributes to implementing the African agenda on land.
