NELGA builds on already existing networks across Africa:

The Eastern African Land Administration Network (EALAN) aims at providing a platform to its members for exchange of knowledge and experience for provision of quality services to achieve sound land policies and governance. The Members strive to create harmonized land administration programs and strengthen their capacity to provide their products and services to clients in the Great Lakes Region of Africa.

The Regional Centre for Mapping of Resources for Development (RCMRD), established in 1975, is a premier centre of excellence in the provision of geo-information and allied information communication applications. As part of its mandate, RCMRD, through its programme on early warning, offers capacity building, research, development and innovation services utilizing space technology for disaster risk reduction, disaster management and emergency response.

Established in 1988, the African Economic Research Consortium (AERC) is a capacity building institution to inform economic policies in sub-Saharan Africa. AERC has three primary components: research, training and policy outreach. The organization integrates economic policy research, postgraduate training and policy outreach within a network of researchers, universities and policy makers in Africa and worldwide.
